E. Sterling Boyadzhiev,
LISW-S, REAT
(she/her)
Sterling is practice owner and clinical social worker at SB Counseling & Wellness, LLC. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Sociology from The Ohio State University, where she became passionate about understanding the contexts and lived experiences that shape people’s health. Sterling wanted to pursue a path where she could work more closely with individuals to improve their health and wellbeing, rather than studying it from afar. This lead to a Master of Social Work degree and career as a mental health therapist. As a supervisor and consultant, Sterling also works with emerging social workers and other mental health providers in their professional development.
Therapy Style:
Sterling’s approach to psychotherapy is rooted in trauma-focused care, which is built upon the understanding that our past experiences inform our current functioning.
Sterling views the relationship between client and therapist as essential, and takes her role in creating a safe and supportive environment very seriously. She recognizes that this kind of work can be challenging and deeply personal, and is truly honored to witness and walk alongside her clients through their journeys.
Sterling is committed to showing up as actively LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, anti-racist and anti-oppressive. She holds a deep respect for the wisdom of queer and trans communities, Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
Sterling enjoys working with diverse individuals experiencing a variety of mental health concerns including trauma and PTSD, systemic harm, identity issues, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, and relationship concerns. Her primary area of specialization is Complex PTSD, attachment trauma, and interpersonal trauma across the lifespan.
Multiple evidence-based psychotherapies and healing practices make up Sterling’s therapeutic approach, including EMDR Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, IFS-informed Therapy (parts work), Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Psychology, and Mindfulness practices.
Whether with clients, supervisees, or consultees, Sterling is dedicated to supporting others in their growth with respect and integrity.
